If you are dealing with the owner. The homes are usually used by the owner himself, he is certainly worried about the final state of the house, reassure him; if a mother is coming on vacation with you tell him, you will make a hit with him. Try to present yourself at your best, it will make a good impression and the owner will like you; you may also obtain a discount on the fee.
If you are dealing with a broker. He has more experience, discounts are harder to obtain, always check out the general conditions of the house, to avoid any kind of problem.
During the negotiation
Always ask if water, gas and electricity consumptions are included. Even if you are desperate, especially during the summer, don't trust everybody and be careful, avoid dealing with who is not reliable. Don't necessarily accept the first house you see, always compare more than one solution.
Remember you are going on vacation, a nice and relaxing moment you have been dreaming for a long time.
Before you enter the house
Check the towels, appliances and all that has been promised in the all-inclusive formula; every extra charge must be specified.
Your rights
The house must be clean Bathrooms must be in order A written receipt A bill for brokerage
Your duties
Remember that somebody else will be using the house after you, leave it in the same state of cleanliness and general order in which you found it, or even better! Treat the house as if it were yours. Try to keep the house clean during your stay. Try to avoid breaking anything. Leave the sand outside the house, take your shower outside. Be careful with the kitchen and bathroom drain. Always read the water, electricity and gas metre with the owner or to avoid any litigation.
